Core Values and Beliefs

We believe that the youth and students inside our fandom can change the stereotypes within and outside of the fandom, by raising their voices and sharing their stories.

We believe that being a diverse publication is not enough. We understand that to become a publication that embraces diversity, everyone who works in and with the publication must feel that they belong. Additionally, we provide resources so that everyone has an equal chance of succeeding.

We understand that we are fallible, and that constructive criticism should be taken with a positive outlook. We also understand that, should any of our content be considered offensive, we will take immediate action to take it down and apologize for our offense.

We are understanding when others are struggling with their own personal issues, and need someone to take over their work with them. We do not pry into their personal lives to discover the merit of their struggle; instead, we allow them to share if/when they are comfortable to do so, with openness. We also must be respectful to everyone who engages with or in our publication and community.

We know that, in order to be a productive space, we must have open communication with each other and participate in conversations. While, we may disagree, we must remain respectful and professional, and no one should jump to conclusions over a single statement that may have been badly worded; instead we should allow ample time for everyone to explain their own views and ideas.

We believe that we can collectively create impactful work for our fandom and people outside of our fandom. While many may tell us that our work is not meaningful, we understand that, as a collective group of youth and students, we can change the stereotypes that surround our position in the fandom.
