General Information

Are you affiliated with BTS or associated companies?
No, we are not affiliated with HYBE, Big Hit Music, or BTS.
How often do you publish?
We publish an issue every two months. We also publish blog posts for recent events within two-three months of the event. (Since most of our employees are students, we don't always have time to write articles within a week of the event.)
Is the publication free to read?
Yes, all of our articles and blog posts are free; we are a noncommercial publication, that aims to become a nonprofit in the future. We may conduct fundraising in the future, and any money gathered would be solely for the operational cost of our publication.
Aim and Scope

What is the mission statement?
The Magic Shop aims to provide a space of discussion, connection, and exploration for ARMYs and non-ARMYs alike. By connecting the stories between BTS's artistry and impact, The Magic Shop attempts to uncover the effect of BTS in ARMYs' lives, as well as in society as a whole.

Is The Magic Shop going to cover other artists?
No, we are a publication for BTS and ARMY. If you are applying, you should be dedicated to writing only about BTS and/or ARMY, regardless of what other fandoms you are in. We may cover general K-pop in the future, but, even then, our main focus will BTS.

What does The Magic Shop cover?
We cover anything that has a relation to BTS and/or ARMY in some way. This can include, but are certainly not limited to, BTS videos, lyrics, melodies, movies, albums, donations, sponsorships, shows, any references in BTS media (e.g. Jungian philosophy in MOTS 7, biblical depictions in ON, The Fall of Icarus in BST, Demain in BST, etc.), exhibitions, performances, concerts, ARMY projects, songs by ARMYs, ARMY organizations, etc.

Is this publication only going to promote and celebrate BTS and ARMY?
As ARMYs and fans, we naturally have a tendency to want to believe the best in BTS and ARMY. While we will mostly discuss the positive aspects and attributes of BTS and ARMY, we will not hesitate to call out any offenses that either party commits. Depending on the situation, it may or may not be up to interpretation (e.g. cultural appropriation, and such offenses to marginalized groups, are never tolerated, but mere opinions on their music, relationships, and such is up to discussion).
Application

When are applications open?
Applications are open the week before a publication is scheduled to be published, and we will post on our social media accounts to notify you.
What are you looking for in an applicant?
We are looking for BTS ARMYs, though we do sometimes accept fans, who are 15-24 years old AND/OR a student ARMY in high school, undergraduate, or graduate school. An applicant should have at least 2-3 hours that are open to working on the publication, and should check our Discord channel frequently. You also need to be fluent enough in English that you can express yourself well.

NOTE: If you do not respond within two weeks of your application, you will be kicked out of the server upon arrival. Should you want to re-apply, you will have to DM us on any of our social media platforms, with a decent reason.

How can I get involved, even if I don't have time to be in the publication?
On the week when an issue is published, we post a poll on Twitter asking ARMYs what you are interested in reading about. We also hope to host a cover art challenge for each issue. In this challenge, ARMYs will learn the title of our cover story and what it will be about, and you will be able to submit your art for the background of our cover. After each issue, ARMYs are invited to respond to our articles by filling out the customer review form, linked in the footer of the website, some of which will be published in the magazine.

You can also submit your work to our publication for review and, if you are accepted, publication. You must submit original work, although any university paper/media on BTS is accepted. Please refer here to learn more about our submissions guidelines.

When will I know if I got accepted?
You will know within a week. If you have not received an acceptance or rejection letter, please follow up with us at our email.

Can I apply again if I get rejected?
In the rejection email, we will give you the reason for your rejection. If you have changed whatever that reason is, you may apply. If you get rejected three times, you must wait at least 4 weeks before applying again.
What are the roles in the publication?
