ARMY's gifts for Yoongi

While ARMYs were waiting to post a wish for Yoongi at exactly 12 AM KST, Seokjin went on Twitter and posted a wish for his dear roommate the day before. This year's Yoongi Day started with Jin's wish for him, so we can say celebrations started earlier than planned.

Even before that, #WhatYoongiWantsYoongiGets trended on Twitter after the announcement of BTS performing at the Grammys via a Tweet from the Recording Academy. In short, Yoongi's birthday celebrations began even earlier than the 9th of March.

We also got the other members' wishes: Namjoon's post with Yoongi with both of them wearing matching sweaters, and, apparently, Taehyung and Jimin like taking pictures of Yoongi while he's asleep, so we got two snaps of Yoongi taking a nap by the ‘95 liners. Jungkook's post for Yoongi was pretty normal: a photo of Yoongi facing back to him in a black and white filter. And of course, the highlight had to be Hoseok's spam tweets for SUGA. Bits and pieces of ‘SOPE’ were shared by him though a number of videos and photos of them.

The whole fandom was really looking forward to the Grammys after BTS’s nomination, and the announcement of them performing further pulled the birthday celebration for our dear Yoongi to its highest peak. After yet another proof of "what-Yoongi-wants-Yoongi-gets," Twitter flooded with wishes for Yoongi. "Daechwita" from his latest mixtape D2 returned to #1 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart on the week of Yoongi day, and "Dynamite" hit 899 million views on  March 9, yet another chart achievement for the boys.

Korea always goes above and beyond with its birthday celebrations, and honestly we love to see the creativity behind such projects. A hot air balloon (or should I say, ball"yoon") in the shape of a huge circle, and the face of Yoongi as a cat, was found floating in the air at Dongsan station in Seoul Marina Plaza. Another project by @baidu_suga-bar was a setup of Yoongi's Genius Lab in a glass display at Hongdae. The best part of it was that the setup was life sized!

A very creative initiative taken by Indonesian ARMYs to plant 100+ coral reefs also gained attention all over social media. Indonesian fans, in the name of Min Yoongi, planted more than a hundred coral reefs which will help in the underwater ecosystem in the city of Ambon, Indonesia.

Wishes from music streaming platforms like Spotify, Deezer and Columbia Records were posted on Twitter wishing Yoongi a happy birthday (they even included the cat emoji!). The most unexpected wish came from Hell's Kitchen, with a clip of Yoongi from Run BTS! episode 102, where Yoongi was referencing Gordon Ramsay.

And of course, Yoongi came on V-Live to celebrate his birthday with ARMY at the end of the day. With his yellow sunglasses and a surprise appearance from Jungkook, Yoongi finished his birthday live with over 19 million viewers in real time.
